DD fit vs DJ fit (36mm)

Could anyone tell me if the Day-Date will look and fit similar to the look and fit of a Datejust providing they are from the same time period? I understand both cases are 36mm but I am just curious if the DD would feel a lot like my 1601 on the wrist. I have two subs currently and am considering moving one to help fund a DD. I much prefer the classic dimensions of the 36mm. Looking at likely an 18238 or 118238. I know the six digit watch is heavier and has solid links but is there that much difference in the two? Price points seem to be much higher on the six digit pieces of course.
