Rolex day/date bracelet diamond question

I my father's old Rolex day/date from the 90s. He purchased an official diamond bezel from Rolex shortly after and many years later decided to get the band

This is kind of a 2 part question. I have a day/date from the 90s, it has an official diamond bezel from Rolex but also aftermarket diamonds on the bracelet. I was wondering whether it would be possible to remove the diamonds and have the band restored? If not roughly what could I expect to receive if I melted the band down and sold the diamonds? So that I could buy a replacement band and keep the whatever is left from the sale of the diamonds.
