Help me with identifying my watch!
Dear fellow enthusiasts,
Can you help me to identify the model of Rolex my father gave to me years ago? I think it may be a 1960s model. I'm attaching a poor (and backward!) pic of the watch. Also, as I seek out this model or one like it, I've found I have two questions I'd love to pick your brains on! 1) What does it mean if the word DATE on the dial has a small dash on either side of the word? 2) I have finally found watches that look very similar to mine. They sometimes have an additional designation RA243 or RA 203, for example. I figure that the RA means Rolex Automatic, but I'm not sure how these numbers correlate to a model or year or something else. The closest I could find is a big bright photo I'm including here, too. I found it on eBay and it is listed as a Mens Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1500 35mm 1960s Automatic Vintage Swiss RA203. Thank you in advance for your help! I'm attaching a photo of my watch to help!
