Bought my first Seiko on my Tokyo vacation

I just got back from an incredibly enjoyable vacation in Tokyo. This was my very first overseas vacation since the start of COVID, and I was eager to return to one of my favorite cities in the world.

One of the special moments of the trip was a visit to Wako Ginza. I spent a good deal of time in the Grand Seiko boutique trying on various GS models. I got very close to buying a SBGA211, but the want was just slightly too weak.

As I was walking out, I saw there was a display case of Prospex watches. My gaze was immediately drawn to the SBEX009 (SLA037 in markets outside of Japan). I had assumed that this 1,100 piece limited edition run was long sold out, but here was a brand new watch staring back at me. I wasn’t leaving without this watch. Keiko, the Grand Seiko sales person who had been helping me earlier, completed the sale with great service. It felt very special to buy a new Seiko watch from the original shop where it all started for Kintaro Hattori.

Unboxing as soon as I got back to the hotel:
