Incoming!! Got the call!

Hello members,

It has been over 6 months since my last purchase (wife’s birthday / OP 31 Turquoise) and post here but I read a lot in this forum so thanks to you all.

Summer and autumn have come and gone and in the last past weeks, winter was already there. A couple of weeks ago, only two days before Christmas Eve, I was passing the AD with my wife after finishing Christmas gifts purchases so we decided to pop in just to say hi and tell them we were expecting our first child to be born next month. I have to admit that I was quite impressed and surprised to find myself looking again at watches which by the way were “for exhibition only” (frustrating to be honest) when there were only empty cases a few months back. We had a nice conversation with the SA talking about watches (price rise early 2023) and the coming birth of our little girl.

Back at the time I bought the OP 31 for my wife, I inquired a GMT Master II in S/S for myself but they shut me down saying that waiting time was 5+ years and I’d rather put my name on a S/S Sub or Explorer II / Explorer I instead. I believe this comparison is inaccurate for the three watches but I gave a shot and tried them on my wrist. In the end, I didn’t like the first two watches that much, especially the Explorer II as it looked way too big on the wrist. I eventually considered adding to the collection a new Explorer I but still, I needed some time to process and see if it was a good call or not. Surprisingly, I received a call from my AD yesterday late afternoon asking if I was available and in the neighborhood because they had something they wanted to show me. Luckily, I was able to make it to the store just before they close and SA told me they received a shipment the day before I got the call.

I now fully understand your BLNR attraction! The watch on oyster is perfect in my opinion but also the dial writing, the blue 24hr hand and the bezel. Each element combines into a flawless whole. A whole that is a joy to wear. There is no right or wrong answer, just my personal opinion and taste. Anyway, this visit to my AD before Christmas Eve proved to be a very fruitful one when they surprised me with the BLNR I did not expect to come so fast.

I have been over the moon since so thanks Rolex for making it happen. It will be my birthday gift in two weeks and a great way to welcome a little newborn in the family. What a great way to start 2023!
