1962 Nivada Grenchen 105 / 9812 Radium Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver CASD

For sale is an excellent condition unpolished 39mm stainless steel Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver “CASD”. The 105 / 9812 was originally produced in 1962, and is not accompanied by box or paper.

The CASD features a polished steel case with pointed beveled lugs, which is accented by a black bidirectional 60 minute timer bezel. The Nivada Grenchen is mounted on an unworn quick release taupe calfskin leather Hide & Alloy strap, which is secured by a brushed steel tang buckle. The CASD features a black radium radium dial with radium index hour markers, polished radium coated hands, and sub dial registers at 3 and 9 o’clock. The dial has stood the test of time exceptionally well and remains flawless, while the radium lume plots and hands have acquired a gorgeous / even pumpkin colored patina. The movement used in the 105 / 9812 is the Valjoux Caliber 92.

The case on the CASD has been preserved exceptionally well, and remains unpolished, with crisp lugs and bevels. Overall The CASD is a true barn find, and is a gorgeous all original example of a first iteration the second generation of the legendary Nivada Grenchen CASD, which was purchased directly from its original owner, and remains untouched. Furthermore the 105 / 9812 reference CASD was the last model to use Radium luminescence before Nivada Grenchen switched to Tritium luminescence starting at the beginning of 1963.
