Is it sacrilege to swap original hands on a vintage piece to prevent lume flaking?

I've got a Tudor 7021 with original hands and dial. The lume in some of the hands is already beginning to show some cracks (dial in phenomenal condition).

I wear this piece regularly and I'm worried I'll do more damage to the hands with accidental impacts, vibration, etc.

I know this is 100% preference, so what is your opinion... is it acceptable to swap out the hands for a matching new set? Of course I'll keep the old hands, safely stored.
