Palm addition to the collection
Started a little over a year ago to build my collection. First piece was the 37mm Yachtmaster, followed by the Explorer. I found it a little difficult wearing a rose gold timepiece as a daily watch. Also, for me it was much more enjoyable to pull that one out of the watch box for special occasions as opposed to getting used to it, and loosing that 'speciallness'.
When I was debating between a Explorer and a Datejust, my AD mentioned that a green palm dial Datejust was a pretty rare sight. As we know, Datejust's come in different bracelet options and different bezels. I frequently questioned myself, if I'd like a smooth bezel more than a fluted bezel, in combination with a jubilee bracelet. The dial is quite busy, to perhaps a fluted/jubilee would be too much. Late April I walked past the AD as I was in town for business and upon chatting, I mentioned the 126234 with a Palm dial. There was one that had come in and he showed it to me in this exact configuration. Upon seeing it in the flesh, I instantly knew this was the one. The jubilee bracelet sits so comfortable on the wrist and the fluted bezel gives of that typical Datejust vibes. I absolutely love it, especially since it's a 36mm only piece. Upon taking that picture of my watchroll, I couldn't help but smile. Each piece truely reflects my taste. I can't wait to further expand and maybe even dip into other brands. Really would like to try and get a AP 15550ST from the boutique (light-blue dial), or find a truely special Day-Date (maybe a platinum piece?). Thanks for reading and enjoy the pictures! |
