A gold Daytona for daily wear and much more ...
My 116528 is the oldest watch in my collection. There have been periods when I have worn it daily for months at a time during the last 17 years. In this configuration, it's still one of my favorite Rolex watches of the modern period. Here it is this morning after a couple of days in the hot and humid Japanese weather. I didn't even wipe it clean. This is it in its natural, uncleaned, smudges & all condition and it's still good company as I have my coffee and read the forum this morning. I had this watch serviced once several years ago at RSC Tokyo. It has without exception been a very good, dependable watch that sometimes seems elegant and at other times seems like a hard core tool watch, believe it or not. Maybe it's the matte finish on the dial that makes it such a chameleon. This photo isn't very good in the current light here, but this watch still essentially looks like it did the day I bought it.
And out and about a short while ago. |
