New Watch Alert - Daytona 116500LN Black dial
My first post here and just want to share my joy in finally acquiring my personal grail the Daytona 116500 LN Black Dial from my AD earlier this month. I submitted my wish through my boss (who has a very long and solid relationship with the AD) because it's my 10th year in the company and he gladly used his connection to help.
The call finally came early this month and I was actually surprised they'd allocated me the 116500 given that this has been discontinued. The AD also said you are probably the last one to get this from us, so Rolex does ship discontinued models until their stocks are out I guess even 8 months after. Truth be told, I was in two minds because the new model's look grew on me over the last few months and it does look more elegant to me. But, one can't be a chooser when a SS Daytona is available on retail and I made my way to the AD, and after trying on the new 126500 (they had one Panda on display) I left with no regrets as an article on Fratello watches have noted the lugs and case design of the new one made it more in line with the GMT or Sub than the 116500, and it's noticeable when you put them on. I am sure many on the forum have shared but this Daytona is really one of the best watches Rolex made when it comes to comfort on your wrist and it suits my smaller wrist than the Sub (I also own the 114060 Sub) but the weight and lugs of that one really falter when it's compared to this Daytona. I am still not over the euphoria of acquiring this at such a late juncture of the year (I have actually given up) and hope everyone will get what they wish for ! |
