I think I have the perfect collection, and I’m still thinking about the next one.Help!
I’ve consolidated down to a Daytona C White, Pepsi C on Jubilee, the Cermit Mk 2 and an Ed White 321, each covering the exploratory domains of Land, Air, Sea and Space. For me, this is an ideal collection, the one I had envisioned at the beginning of the journey.
And now once I’m here, while a glance at the wrist still does fill me with pride, I’m still thinking about the next one, still thinking of whether I should trade an existing piece for a Lange, thinking of trading the the Pepsi for a Black Daytona C. It’s always the search for the next Dopamine Hit. Folks that got to a collection they’re happy with, how did you avoid thinking of the next one? A extreme solution to this is to withdraw completely. No forums. No watching reviews. No Instagram. I feel like this would be too draconian. The reason why I got into watches was the mechanical wizardry in the back: the rotors, the balance wheels, the types of screws, and admiring it all come together into this wondrous analogue thing on my wrist. Ironically, it’s only the 321 that provides this. It’s a source of happiness for me and I don’t want to let it go. Curious to here thoughts on what’s the middle ground? |
