1978 Vintage Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 1680 MK3 Bezel Insert Matte MK2 Dial

For sale today is a lovely example 1978 Rolex Submariner Date. The hands are original and have aged to a beautiful golden patina, slightly darker than the hour plots which is normal for this reference. The MKII “Beyeler” Matte Dial is all original and has very nice full hour plots.

This dial variation had some of the largest lume plots for the 1680 line, however it is not considered a Maxi dial. Don’t ask me why.

The MK3 Bezel insert is also original and has faded to a beautiful deep blue.

The bracelet is period correct and the date code is F which dates it to having been manufactured in 1981.

The case has been previously polished and retains the original factory chamfers. Serial and model numbers are clear. The timepiece is keeping very good time and will not be in need of a service anytime soon.
