Introduction and a question
Dear TRF'ers:
I have just joined this site after lurking for sometime and I am very impressed with the knowledge base here and finally had some questions answered (the eternal band/bracelet swap question on the daytonas for example). Looking forward to learning a lot about some of the "deeper" aspects of the Rolex brand. My current collection consists of (pardon me, but I havent picked up all the short hand yet) a TT Sub w/ Champagne Serti Diamond Dial a TT MOP daytona (2007) a Date Just - Black Face - Smooth Bezel - SS - stolen by my wife (she has a TT Date w/ champagne diamond dial) a YMII in YG my fathers restored (major service by Rolex in 2007) SS Date from the early 1960s (I need to post a picture here to get help nailing down the model - sold in a PX in the phillipines in the early 60s I believe) - Acrylic lens, manual wind. a N.O.A. watch I bought on a whim in Colorado My daily wear is the YMII. Sadly my other watches dont get much wrist-time. Ideally I'd like to have one more solid gold watch (a daytona - maybe on a strap) and then a SS one I can wear on the weekends without feeling like a tool. for the SS I am thinking about either a daytona, a GMTIIc or a deepsea. I wouldnt feel to bad trading in the Sub (the daytona was my first rolex) but it seems like I'd only be getting maybe 4500-5k on the watch. My question is: Given the economic climate, is now a time to trade in/sell? or am I better off using my buying power to buy now and sell my other watches when (if) the economy turns around? Particularly because the watches I like are newer models? Thank you in advance. |
