Pretty well-known phenomenon with the tightly packed GMT movement.
Typically the date wheel gets some oil on it and that drags rather than lubricates if it isn't in the right spot. As Peter says, a few cycles may clear it up, but it's not a serious functional issue. The date wheel has nothing to do with the hands and it isn't a problem with the mechanism - your watch will work just fine
