Fewer Links these days?

I'm trying to organize things to make them easier for my kids to handle someday.

Today, I am inventorying and labeling every watch box.

I opened my first Rolex box, 116713 from 2011, and noticed there are two spare links in the box. The watch fits great.

Recent purchases result in no spare links with proper fit.

Was Rolex more generous with links in the past?
