The only people watching what we order for patients is the insurance companies, who dislike new name brand drugs by the way. Physicians can lecture for drug companies and get research sponsorship from them, but that is an entirely different thing. I don't do that either. I give the right drugs to the right patients at the right time, everytime. That's why I get the big bucks. I couldn't care less what new drug or gadget is on the market unless they can show me that it will improve my patient care with research conducted on humans.
If you don't like your doctor, get a second opinion or seek the opinion of a specialist.

AMEN! No pens, no sticky notes, God forbid I might write for a drug because the pharma rep gave me a plastic 15 cent pen with a logo on it.

We don't get paid anything by the pharmaceutical companies....I take care of my patients, because I swore an oath to do so and because it is what I love doing. I work in a job I love, taking care of people, and most of the time I get great satisfaction from that job.

It makes me feel good when I take care of someone and they feel better! You know the best thing anyone ever said to me is "Hey, you saved my life!" I was in a restaraunt and they guy came up to me. He remembered me because I was the one who cared for him in the ER and I wheeled him to the cath lab. I talked to him the whole way.

There are still medical professionals who care!
