A Trip to the AD
Evening all,
Popped into my local AD tonight to have a look, and they had lots of interesting things for me to try on First up was the DJ II, both in steel and TT. I tried on the steel model, and I was a little underwhelmed by it. I thought it was a little too large for my wrist, yet felt almost too light - barely heavier than my 116200. I did like the dial (white baton), and I thought the bezel was nicely proportioned, but the crown felt undersized. I think maybe a Triplock instead of a Twinlock crown was needed given the watch's heft. I also notced that the bracelet was very noticeably taperered - I believe this allows replacement links to be standardised, but I thought it looked a little odd. Second, the AD had a white gold Daytona with silver arabic dial in - beautiful, beautiful watch. I loved the contrast of the red hands against the dial, and the watch had a real heft to it. Surprisingly, despite it being fresh from the factory, it still had the old style clasp on. Finally, I had a look at the new Omega Ploprof, and boy, was I pleasantly surprised by it. It doesn't seem as big in the flesh as pictures would have you believe, and the quality is top notch. The clasp has a real industrial feel to it, and I'm sure the bracelet would be really comfortable once adjusted. The crown guard is pure genius, though, and I'm very impressed with how they engineered it. I was initially very sceptical about this watch, but I'm definitely a convert! Just thought I'd share my views Cheers Chris |
