Pepsi Shortage?

There seems to be some credence to the idea that Pepsi GMT, GMT II's are in shorter secondary market supply (and command higher prices) than say Cokes...I say this because of my own observations.

I recently acquired a mint Coke GMT II which I love...Not sure I like the idea of swapping the bezel insert with the frequency one might change into a NATO strap.

Soooooo...if I decided I really wanted a Pepsi - (and avoid constant bezel swapping) I was considering buying an older black GMT and making it into a Pepsi for good.

Two questions...

1.) Do folks concur with the price / demand observation?
2.) What is the general feeling about converting a GMT bezel insert. Is that blasphemy? Frankenwatching? A-OK???
