One Rolex, All Occassions, Which Would You Choose?
If you were limited to one Rolex (and no other watches from other makers) which one would you choose and why? Which would be the Rolex for you considering your career, hobbies, athletics, taste in watches, utility of the watch, looks, sentimental value, etc?
For instance, I am a lawyer who interacts with a judgmental group of clients from a less affluent area of town. I don't scuba, snorkel, etc but am a basketball, golf, tennis player (and don't wear a watch during those activities). I wear a suit or sportcoat most weekdays and am a jeans/t-shirt kind of guy on the weekend. I feel like I've been wearing a tuxedo at least once a month for the past year for one occassion or another. I like having a date function on my watch but am not a huge fan of the cyclops. I believe the Sea Dweller, GMT Master and White Daytona are the 3 best looking Rolexes (although the new maxi case blue/gold Sub is really growing on me) and I hope to own all 3 sometime sooner than later. I believe the SD is the ultimate go anywhere Rolex (plus it keeps the date, lacks a cyclops lens and lacks a shiny polished bracelet). However, the SD is tough to dress up (although I have never put it on a leather/croc strap). My suspicions tell me the SD would look great on a honey, deep burgndy and dark brown croc strap. The GMT Pepsi pops a little too much to be a one and only watch for me (I suppose it would be a bit more stealthy w/ a black bezel but I believe the Pepsi is the only way to go w/ this watch). Same with the shiny look of the Daytona. Accordingly, based on the fly under the radar look of the SD, its ability to look great on it's bracelet (like all other Rolexes), NATO strap and hopefully a croc/leather strap I'm choosing it as my one and only (in this hypothetical of course). That said, I can't wait to pick up my 2010 watch: a Pepsi GMT Master II 16710. |
