The old style pin in the pierced hole was far superior to the new non-pierced lugs. The tip on the newer style pin only penetrated the case by a little less that 1/8 inch. But the Rolex Spring pins are all stainless steel.

actually, i've seen y-serial subs with lug holes, so that puts it at 2002/2003. cheers,
