THANKS RICHARD! ( rfknauss )
This was a perfectly timed gift from Richard.
To start off I had a crazy week as a cop. I have been also fighting off a little head cold. Just one of those weeks that you remember because of all the stress. It's finally Friday, and I drag myself home. With my backpack slung over my shoulder, I walk to the door. A swarm of bees have found interest in my little bushes in front of the house. Not just bumble bees, but every freakin breed of bee in North America. Of course I found that out as I tried to find the correct key on the keyring. My loving spouse knows I'm 5 minutes from home, and has the deadbolt, and door handle locked. After pulling a freakin miracle to save my life, I open the door to find my sweet little girl throwing saltine crackers about the kitchen. (Welcome Home mats near the front door are sarcastic jokes by the way!) As I lay my bag down, my wife tells me I have a package....."OH CRAP" was my only thought! See, I have a Rolex on the way, and not everyone in my house is aware of that. For that matter, I had the notion to keep it that way too! Jenn hands me a padded envelope, and ask what it is. My quick inspection from first glance wasn't a watch box, or even thick enough to hold a watch. The only other thing inbound is a click spring from a watchmaker. I hoped to god he didn't mail a click spring in the big padded envelope. Not exactly needed for something the size of a fingernail. I looked at the address, and it all fell into place. My friend Richard had sent me a surprise! I got a gift from a fellow TRF buddy! Now were in business! I prepaired the dining room table like a doctor before surgery. Scissors, camera, and package. I didn't even take my duty belt off. The top was removed carefully. My wife watched me like a hawk. I reached into the envelope. Mind you, I had forgotten the bad week when I saw the package. Everything was good in my little world. Something so random from a friend, but I really needed a boost! I pulled out 2 Rolex booklets Richard had picked up from his AD. I was glowing as I looked at the picture of the Blue/ Blue Stainless Steel model. By this time My eyes were registering things from my favorite hobby. This was cool! My wife even stood next to me, and looked as I flipped through the book. She even said "Oh, I like that one!" referring to the pink MOP ladies DJ in SS. I think I got a hint from Jenny! If you read this entire thread, there is a point to the story. Richard Made my day, when I needed a friend. Although we've never spoken on the phone, or seen each other in person, he's a friend. TRF is full of good people, and we take care of each other! Thank you Richard! My birthday is Sunday, and this was a great gift! Last edited by Welshwatchman; 5 April 2010 at 10:48 AM..
