Newbie requests info - vintage Tudor
Thanks in advance for any help and/or info. I'm not a collector or enthusiast like you guys....came across this in my late father's belongings. Took it to what was supposedly a knowledgeable dealer, and he talked me into having the internal workings overhauled and a new "authentic" crystal replacement. He said it was well worth the cost....I know, I should have checked before I spent the money, but now I'm trying to figure out what exactly I have. Hours of internet searching haven't shown me anything exactly like it.
Plain back except for two sets of numbers...the first is 7914, and below that is what I assume is a serial #? (191XXX). Screw-down type crown with the rolex symbol. Obviously a non-original band. I know you guys don't do "appraisals", but I figured this thing was worth high 3 figures based on what other similar watches I see on the auction site, etc. But the jeweler claims the watch guy is willing to buy at *substantially* more than that, which just really seems too good to be true based on what I am seeing. Anyway, you guys have any thoughts or info? I know you'd like to see the innards, but I don't really have a way to access them. Thanks in advance. |
