Red Submariner Restoration
I visit www.rolexreferencepage.com once in a while to see what new stuff JHII has up on his website. It was from his website and his review which MAJORILY influenced my final decision on deciding on which brand new Rolex I should buy. It was a choice between a GMT Master II (red/black) or a Sea Dweller. The Sea Dweller won.
In anycase, I just came back from visiting his website and he has 3 NEW postings up on the main page. The first posting is a watch comparison between the Rolex Sea Dweller and the relatively new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. The other two postings are a Part 1 & Part 2 on JHII restoration of a 1972 Red Submariner. It's quite detailed with excellent illustrations. I'm quite amazed that JHII managed to find someone to do a very good job polishing up that dingy Red Sub. I'm even more amazed that 33 years later, an abused Rolex was made to look about as new as one could possibly make it without having to replace the braclet also. That watch looks like it's ready for at least another 50 years! |
