Crown on Submariner not close to watch

I was wondering if I could get a question answered here by the very knowledgable people you all seem to be. I don't know if it is my imagination, or if there is something wrong with my submariner, but when the crown is screwed in tight, it doesn't appear to fit snug against the watch. It is almost as if there is a small space between the two. I am worried the watch may not be water/pressure proof. I have had the watch for a while and never noticed this before.
