From what I've read the LV will probably be more desirable in future, but I'm no expert. However, even Rolex haters in the WIS community have a grudging respect for the SD.
The dial size of the SD is only 1mm smaller than that of the LV, but the SD looks noticeably smaller than the LV on the wrist. The SD also sits taller and heavier on the wrist and people have reported it to be less comfortable than the LV. On the plus side, the serrated edges of the SD bezel is more prominent making it look slightly better in that aspect. The SD also lacks the date magnifier thereby giving the dial a cleaner and more symmetrical look; others however think that the cyclops is the hallmark of a Rolex watch. I have a Sea Dweller and I give it my vote because it was actually developed for deep sea diving and was the best diving watch, by far, of it's era. The LV on the other hand is a prettier watch but is symblic of Submariners transitioning from a tool watch to a luxury item. |
