20 years and full circle back to the SD
If you read my last post http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=128471 you will recall that My first Rolex was a Sea Dweller which went thru hell and back and fed my family for mnths when the need arose.
Yesterday I traded my 16613 Sub for a K serial SD to come back around full circle, and my oh my isn't this a nice thing! First off - Mike Nguyen in So Cal is a heck of a nice guy to deal with! Second - I had forgotten just how comfortably these sit on a small wrist. The extra height actually makes these sit with less interaction than the newer subs. Simplicity, hefty weight, built (exactly) like a battleship - with a touch of gray at the hrv to add to the illusion, no more schmear of quag above and below the cyclops, tighter clicks on the bezel, higher sitting bezel with deeper notches for ease of grasp. The upgraded extender (with the push dot release) eliminates the rattle of the older sub clasps. And if you can't read the dial with your failing old eyes, Rolex has thoughtfully put Rolex Oyster in BIG LETTERS on the back of the case so you know it is a Rolex My wife actually went so far (she remembers the old house saving SD as fondly as I do) as to say "If you want another Rolex go ahead and get one, but keep that one" Here are Mike's pictures - I was at my daughters spring concert last night and didn't get around to taking any shots of my own... Thanks again Mike! (he had his watch guy give the case sides a quick buff after these shots and I gave the bracelet a quick once over - looks near mint!)
