Watch Journal Magazine SNUBS the Daytona!!!
A few days ago I picked up the April edition of "Watch Journal" Magazine. Looking at the contents I notice they devoted a section to chronographs, so I was looking forward to reading the story.
Finally this evening I had a chance to sit down, have a cup of coffee and dive in to the magazine. The chronograph story was very good, with descriptions of different features and functions, flyback, tachymeters, one button vs. three buttons etc, very good reading. They had pictures and write ups of several models, including a Patek, a Piaget, a Paneri, and several watches whose name I can't pronounce and could never afford, (one was over half a million dollars!!! ) but as I turned the last page of the article, I was shocked! They said NOTHING about the DAYTONA!!!! Are you kidding me!? Arguably the most Iconic chronograph of all time is completely ignored in a supposed authoritative watch publication's article on famous chronographs!!?? Nothing against Paneri but they felt it necessary to includ a Paneri Chronograph and NOT a Daytona!? Sorry, and call me biased, but like or dis-like the Daytona, it is one of the most famous chronograph wristwatches of all time, but it doesn't deserve even a mention in Watch Journal. I wrote an E-mail to the editor, asking how they could possibly ignore the Daytona, they'll probably do the same thing to my E-mail. I lost a lot of respect for this magazine tonight. |
