Winder setting?

Just received my winder today. It has three settings, Function #1- rotate ten times clockwise for 1 min, rest for 12 mins, rotate counter-clockwise ten times for 1min. Function #2 same but rest for 15 min. Function #3 same but rest for 22 min. Any one of these seem more appropriate? Also, someone mentioned that his watch ran slower on a winder. Is that because they aren't getting wound as tight as normal wrist use? Speaking of being wound too tight.........
