Why are some ADs so cocky to the people they serve?
Hello all... I have been lurking for awhile now. Reading daily. This is my first real post. Here in Knoxville, Tennessee we have three Rolex ADs that I can think of right off. Two of them I do alot of business with and i'm supposed to be next on both of their lists for a stainless Daytona. Today I walked into the third AD's shop because I had heard they had a couple stainless Daytonas. I was greeted by an older lady and directed to a "gentleman" sitting down at a desk playing on his computer. I told him I was a collector and heard they may have a stainless daytona around. He then told me they were all gone. He said " We had four. We sell them for $11,000." I told him I was not willing to pay an AD over list for one. He then said in a snotty tone " I can sell them all day long for $11,000. And good luck finding one because I don't know any AD who sells them for list." I thanked him and left. I called Rolex when I got home and they told me they have no say in what the ADs charge. I just don't understand. Maybe I just looked like i'm not a paying customer ( I'm a 20something who dresses usually in Abercrombie and runnning shoes ) Ofcourse I was wearing my Kermit Sub, so I thought they might atleast take me alittle seriously. But he wasn't even willing to get up from behind his desk for me. Why are some ADs so snotty. Don't they realize they are screwing themselves out of a future customer? Thank you all for listening to my rant.
