Is there a Panerai thats considered a classic like a sub is to Rolex?

I am looking to buy a new watch and owning 2 Rolex and an Omega GMT am thinking of buying a Panerai. The problem is that I know nothing about Panerai watches.

So my question is, is there a classic Panerai model (like a sub or GMT is to Rolex) that is considered the workhorse of the brand?

The reason I ask is that the sub is timeless in design and I am hoping to choose a Panarai with the same atributes.

Hope this post is not too lame........
