Back from Vegas....
Just got back from my birthday trip to Vegas! I enjoyed wearing my LV proudly. Lost my A$$ at the tables. Had lots of fun including "Rolex" related stories:
* I was playing PaiGow at the Gold Coast on Saturday night and this gal sitting next to me notices my LV and said "wow, that's a nice 50th anniversary sub". She went on to say that she works at a local AD and had just gotten "Rolex certified". Not sure what "certifed" means other than to do repairs (she was in sales?). We made small talk about the Daytona frenzy, etc. - she said that they had gotten very few LV's and that they went very quickly. Had to visit the strip Rolex dealers. My wife snapped a few pics. * There is a smaller store at the Caesar Forum shops - they had some decent stock including the TT 50th GMT. No SS Daytonas or LV's. Two salespeople there commended me on getting a LV - that they were tough to get, blah, blah, blah. We made some small talk - they were nice people - tried to leverage that "secret" Daytona that they might have in the back - my wife wants a Yachtmaster and my deal is that the first AD to sell me a SS Daytona will also get the Yachmaster deal (a "2 watch" deal). It didn't work - A) they didn't have a Daytona in stock and B) my leverage deal was not a big enough transaction to trump others on their waiting list. * Had to go to the mothership Tourneau store at Caesar's - a great store for viewing all the other watch brands that I appreciate - their Rolex supply was nice - much larger than a typical AD but their staff was horrid as usual. Not a soul offered to help or engage in any discussion (I wanted to look at a Graham Swordfish to try it on). Sunday afternoon and the place was dead - maybe 5 shoppers and around 15 staff. * Wynn's - I almost pi$$ed myself when I saw the number of Rolex's on display at the Rolex dedicated store in Wynn's. It is un-freakin' believable. Arguably 500-1000 various models on display. It is a must see if you are in town. Engaged the sales gal in a little small talk. She had never heard the term "LV" before (I was wearing my Cartier Roadster GMT) - I explained that the LV was the 50th anniversary sub and then it clicked in. I tried my "2 watch" deal offer with her. I suspect that she was warm to it but she explained that it wasn't her turn in the rotation yet (their sales people are on a rotation for every Daytona that comes in - she was 7th in line). Anyways, I had lots of other fun - most of it needs to "stay in Vegas". I strongly recommend the Phantom of the Opera show at Venetian. We saw Pete Rose who was signing stuff at a memorabilia store in Caesar's - there was no line and he seemed to be sitting there lonely and pathetic. We saw Carrot Top doing some shopping at the Saks 5th just off the strip. The dude is totally pumped - abnormally large bi's and shoulders - its wild! I'll be posting my top 10 LV's pics soon. I'm sure I have lots of work backed up waiting for me tomorrow. K4S |
