Icon5 Datejust mechanism issue?

I was winding a 2001 Datejust today which had been resting for a few weeks unworn. I completed the usually 40ish turns to kick start it again but noticed that there was quite a lot of resistance after the 40 turns. Usually the spring just slips to prevent over winding and turning resistance doesn;t change significantly but today i really noticed it.

Does this signal a mechanism issue? Has anyone experienced something similar?
