Re: Product placement... Often companies like CAA / William Morris Agency work with the script writers / producers on a concept to weasel in a placement opportunity for a category of product - watch, computer, candy ... and then pitch the oppty to companies who will pay $$$ for inclusion in the film.

If the watch an actor is wearing is obtrusive and takes away from the content of the film, the actor is not going to be allowed to wear it. The actor gets wardrobe laid out for him. He cannot simply wear red rain boots if the scene does not call for it.
