Leather band for my wife's Skyrocket (again)

Ok, so I measured it carefully and it (the Skyrocket) is 16mm between the lugs.

I think what I would like to do is to buy a Rolex buckle and affix it to a really nice leather/croc band.

What do you lot think?

I am not sure how I would get the buckle on the band...aren't those sewn on? I remember someone suggesting the Watch Prince, but I am still confused as to the mechanics of this.

Any thoughts on nice leather for this watch? And as to my plans for it? It is gold-toned --
