Rolex Submariner D Series Need Help!!

Hello Experts,

I came across a friend of mine who has a Submariner Date D Series. He is the original owner, has the receipt and all and purchased the watch brand new in March 2006. All the original documents are enclosed including boxes, papers, etc. He is going through some things right now and needs to get rid of watch and offered to sell it to me for $3850. Is this a good price, it was his daily watch so it needs a polish, how much would that run? Any advice would appreciated, thanks!!
