No Date Sub C?

Hello all,

I joined this forum last week and have enjoyed the stories, answers, comments and thought provoking discussions; great forum!

Several weeks ago I went to my local AD to take a look at my favorite Rolex, the Submariner. I own a Breitling and an Omega (currently my Seamaster is my daily wearer). When I went to see the Submariner, I was a bit surprised that the price had jumped up to $7300 and some change. Last year when I looked at this watch I could have purchased it for $5200 out the door.

When the nice lady took the Sub out for me, I put it on and it caught me a bit off guard. It had changed. The lines that I remembered (my Uncle wore one for as long as I can remember and I loved that watch) had changed. I remember my first impression (not to offend anyone) was that I simply did not like the new shape. Since this is going to be my first Rolex, I wanted to make sure I was going to be happy.

I was informed that this Sub that I was trying on was the new model. I asked if they had any of the old style Subs and was met with a very quick "Nope - you won't find one of those around here". I wore the new Sub C for several minutes and simply could not justify the price increase; the new bracelet, ceramic bezel, etc are nice, but it is almost like the changes were not well thought out; almost forced.

Well, if I was going to purchase it I wanted to make sure I got the No Date Sub (more of a tool for me - diving, boating, etc) and I simply do not have any use for the Date version. I was told by the young lady that there is not a No Date Sub in the new model, and she did not know if or when there would be a No Date Sub C. When asked if they made a 2010 No Date Sub she said yes, but it would be difficult to find (sales pitch perhaps).

So, I called my Uncle and he found an AD in his state that had the new 2010 No Date Sub (14060m). He knew the AD well and purchased it for me at a good price (about the same as I was expecting to pay last year). I sent him a check and he is shipping it (was supposed to be here Friday, but according to USPS tracking it will be here tomorrow!!!).

So, now my question: Does anyone on this board know if and when there will be a No Date Sub C? Is there a significant difference in the quality/performance of the Sub C verses my 14060m? I am not concerned with re-sale, as this is going to be perhaps my last watch.

Thanks in advance for your input...
