eBay fraud waiting to happen, can anything be done?
I happened to come across a nice vintage JLC Memovox on the 'bay: http://bit.ly/maf5m9
I noted that the seller had 100% feedback with a score of 82. But he was located in Thailand, not exactly the hotbed of vintage Swiss watch sales. Then I clicked on his feedback for some more detail: http://bit.ly/lzpCfp 78 of his rating were in the last month. All were as a buyer. Then I started to click on the items he purchased. Some were private auctions, but of those I could review, EVERY ONE was for an item whose total cost was less than $0.50, including shipping. Like this: http://bit.ly/jkXgjH This guy has clearly been artificially inflating his feedback in order to trick some naive buyer into getting ripped off. I can't believe that eBay doesn't have the ability to detect this! I sent him a message asking for another photo of the watch and asking some questions about it. No response in two days. What is worse, he has seven Swiss watches "for sale," all ending in less than 24 hours: http://bit.ly/kxSGkd Can anything be done to stop this obvious fraud??? |
