Lady Date-Just Bezel Question

Is there a physical or dimensional difference between a bezel intended for an acrylic crystal lady-date or lady date-just vs. a bezel intended for a sapphire model? Are the bezels for these watches compatible with either crystal type?

Here's the story:

My wife has a 1978 Ref. 6916 acrylic with had a SS dome bezel. She asked me to find an 18K WG fluted, as she prefers this look. I found one on-line and had it installed by my trusted watchmaker.

My wife also has a 1990 Ref. 69173 sapphire that was purchased with what is probably an aftermarket diamond bezel. She asked me to find an 18K YG fluted bezel for this watch, as she feels it might get more wrist time if it didn't have the diamonds. I found one on-line, and it is identical to the bezel installed on the 6916 acrylic. I used dial calipers and a loop, and can find no difference in bezel design or dimensions other than color.

I'm confused because when shopping for bezels, I found the term "low profile for acrylic" and "high profile for sapphire" in the descriptions for the various bezels. When purchasing the 18K YG for the 69173, I specifically stated what watch and crystal type the bezel is intended for, and the seller stated it was the correct part. The seller is a well respected Rolex re-seller based in San Fransisco that has been in business since 1990.

I asked this question the Rolex General Discussion section as well, I hope that's okay. Thanks.
