Help

I am interested in restoring a vintage Rolex. But I want it to be authentic. With an old car I could get new parts that are indentical to the oringinal. But from what I have read so far If you used a say re lumned dial on a 5512 even if it was as correct this is not good? Its reall hard to get orignal parts. When I called an AD I was told send it and they would examine it and tell me what parts they have available. Also suggesting a 350.00 lube and oil kind of a deal.
Any suggestions on what is the best way to go?
