He was making $60,000 a year (9 years ago back when gas was ony $1 a gallon), had 2 weeks off for Christmas, 1 week off for Spring Break, Every weekend off, and had 2.5 months for the summer. Starting pay for new teachers is currently around $40,000 at his School Corporation, which in Indiana is pretty good pay with all that time off. I have actually considered going back into teaching myself, either as a Elementary Education Teacher at a private school is the USA, or teaching English in Asia. I think Teaching is a very honorable career and a good career.

Police Officers in the same town as mentioned above start out at around $39,000. Work long hours, face daily risk, political BS, PD are getting more and more PC, see bad accidents and human suffering, deal with the scum of society, forced to do mandatory overtime, work weird shifts many times which take away weekends and evenings from their families.
