First Rolex, soooo excited, but.....
Hi
I have just bought my first Rolex and I am so excited. I never understood how people got so high on a watch, but now I do, it's the most wonderfull thing I have ever owned. I have now a Rolex Cellini 5116/8, it is beautiful, words can't explain. It is not a new one, but oh boy, I had a torrid time when buying it. I did the deal with a reputable watch firm in Sheffield UK, after I'd paid the cash, I noticed the papers were for another watch, panic, I spoke to the dealer who said his supplier must have mixed it up with another and would try to retrieve the correct ones. He failed, but to his credit, he did offer me a full refund. I was heartbroken, I'd fallen in love with my watch, but, was it a genuine Rolex?, I didn't know. I took it to Goldsmiths jewellers ( an official Rolex dealer ), and they were terrific, verified it was genuine, and also checked with Rolex that it wasn't on their stolen listings. So I decided to keep it. I have been advised to get it serviced by an official Rolex service centre where it will be returned, verified, and certified by an official rolex body. Is this worth doing? I would appreciate any help and advice from anyone on this forum. I have no intention of ever selling the watch, so unsure what is the best thing to do. Anyway, sorry for my waffle, but would be grateful for some advice. Thanks for this forum by the way, fantastic reading. Regards Kevin Crockford ( Rolex virgin ) |
