Hello... advice please!?

Hi,
I'm new to this site and after some advice... I'm in the VERY lucky position of having a wonderful wife willing to buy me a dream watch for my 40th birthday next April. Ever since I was a kid I've always wanted an iconic top of the range watch and due in part to some inheritance and the pre mentioned wonderful wife I can now have my pick! My choice is down to 3...

1. A speedmaster professional... This was the first watch that ever caught my imagination. I guess in some ways this is my dream watch however I realise there are some downsides to owning a speedmaster.
2. A Rolex Submariner... iconic, say no more!
3. A Seiko Marinemaster... maybe the dark horse?!

Now a little about my needs...
I don't want a watch that sits in a box and is only taken out for special occasions. I do however lead an ordinary, everyday life, working a slightly physical job. The watch will get surface marks, light scratches etc (my seiko kinetic divers has)! It NEEDS to be my everyday, never take off hard wearing, dependable watch (and accurate, again my seiko is).
This makes me defiantly think twice about the speedmaster and also re think the rolex.
I also regularly go swimming with my son and never take my watch off... again a black mark against the speedmaster or not? and in my middle-class kinda life, is the Rolex too much? Will people just think I own a fake Rolex!? Is the Seiko the answer in this case?
I'm never going to be in the position (unless I win the lotto) to own a second quality watch so this is more than likely going to be my first and last expensive watch purchase... I need to get it right!
Obviously I realise that trying each watch on will help a lot with my choice but any other advice or info anyone can give me would be very much appreciated!
thanks a lot
;)
