Clowning around
I hope you good people will tolerate my clowning around because I have yet to contribute anything substantial in the horological department. I could repost my articles from TURF (a few of them became nuggets) but this is ancient history now. Who needs another 16610 review?
I owned a 16610 and can comment on that but it would be like preaching to one’s own parish. All I can, and will do is to steer doubters in the right direction. Rolex is just a good, solid watch. OK, there are better watches in the world, even less costly but that is not the point. I used to live over a watchmaker’s shop and had a few talks with him and his brother. At one time, the thinnest watch in world was introduced (The Delirium, I don’t know the brand anymore). The case was 1.2 mm thick. I asked him about the watch and he actually saw it during a trade show. What he told me astounded me: it was no good! If you flexed your wrist, the crystal would pop off, he told me. Buy a proper watch, like a Rolex. But he never came across one because of the common neighborhood. Thanks for putting up with me.
