Gidday from Qatar

Hi. I've just joined the "Owners Club". My wife has wanted a Rolex for a while, but got a bit diverted by too many LV handbags.....I never really wanted a divers watch that I wouldn't wear while diving!

But it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary yesterday, so why not? Besides, I've given up on trying to kill my 25 year old $100 quartz dive watch (Olympic brand, proudly put together by a couple of old geezers in a shed in Auckland).

After a long search, and plenty of rejected ideas (she didn't like fluted bezels, diamond bezels, smooth bezels etc......), I found her a nice vintage gold Oyster Perpetual DateJust (6703), with a barked bezel. Whewww! Plus it has a matching smooth gold band, in a similar finish.

Mine? Easy, the current "original" Sub (14060M), which my old dive watch is a copy of anyway. Except my old one is a day-date. Didn't want one of those again, just have to fiddle with it 6 times a year to get the date right!

I've given up diving anyway, so can relax a bit about it. I just REALLY needed the bezel for timing my baking!

Hopefully I won't have to go through this process for another 20 or 30 years

Cheers, Tom
