Hi everyone, new member in Tokyo Japan
Hello to everyone here at TRF; what a great site and vibe. I am a Brit living in Tokyo, have been here for nigh on twenty years but a watch enthusiast since I can remember...I got my first Rolex three years ago, a 1963 GMT which gets a lot of wrist time and will always be a keeper because a. I think it is beautiful, b. it makes me feel good every time I look at it and c. finally being able to purchase a Rolex meant a hell of a lot to me and I want to hold on to both the watch and the feelings it evokes.
Other watches in the stable are an Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph XL Olympic Edition, which has tested my patience because of reliability issues, (never again, and were it not so pretty it would have gone already!), an O&W chronomatic; basically a Breitling made after they went bust, made in the '80's and now showing the beginnings of a bit of patina, and a Seiko "Sumo" for times when I simply need a watch. In the past I've owned and then regretted selling a number of Tudor chronos, including a Monte Carlo Home Plate....but hey, c'est la vie. Basically, I love watches, always look at what people are wearing on their wrists; Tokyo is a GREAT city for watch nuts and have been soaking up the info on this site like a proverbial sponge. I am now yearning for a Deep Sea Dweller, have been for the last eighteen months or so. Prices in Tokyo have dropped a bit because of the strong yen and a more plentiful supply....tried one on on Saturday and Holy Moly, it just oozed quality. And heft...OK, hope to participate now I have joined rather than just lurk. Best wishes to all. |
