Perfect Storm

After 27 years wearing my SS DJ, I innocently wandered into the only Rolex AD here in Alaska on Valentine's Day to purchase some trinkets for my wife and two daughters. Checked out the watches while I was there and, lo' and behold, the Subs looked really nice. Tried on a 116610LN and it looked pretty good. IT got me thinking about Started surfing the net and found TRF almost immediately, joined on Feb 20, and began reading everything. Saw the 10460M COSC and it sang to me (AD here has no 14060M in house). Read some more and saw lots of pics, and as a result the AD will have a 10460M her in Anchorage on Wednesday, March 7, for a direct comparison. At present I am leaning towards the No Date but the AD is really pushing the Sub C improvements as a big selling point - esp bracelet and bezel. I can live with those, but the case is another matter; not a deal breaker but it is a modification that The new Sub simply looks more blocky and chunky to me, but I certainly could live with it very easily once it is on the wrist and away from the store. We shall see... but with one further complication. It's March 7 in Basel very soon and we will all finally know what, if any, changes there will be to the Submariners in 2012 (I am betting on no change). The timing could not have been more perfect for me in decisioning this watch so soon after beginning the process. It will be either the Sub ND, Sub C, or perhaps whatever newly modified Sub might be offered this year. A ceramic ND with an updated bracelet would certainly be worth consideration, but I think these mods would also involve the new case and would make the choice that much more interesting. Regardless, tomorrow is the day. This has been a nice ride and I have enjoyed every minute I've spent learning about these watches on TRF. It is nice to be here.
