It's a celestial wonderland
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, step outside tonight and look into the sky. You willl see an amazing planetary display. To the east is the full Moon. About 1/3 up the sky above the Moon is a very bright red object, the planet Mars. Looking to the west, you'll see two incredibly bright "stars" very close to each other. The lower object, the brightest of the two, is Venus, the upper is Jupiter. If you happen to look to the west just after sunset, you'll also see Mercury right at the horizon.
On March 15th, Jupiter and Venus will be in conjunction, lying just 3 degrees apart. |
