Submariner 1680 what are the differences?

I am currently looking to get my first vintage Rolex and I hope that it will be a 1680

As we all know, the vintage world is a minefield, in which you can so easily get scammed.

Having constantly being reading "For Sale" adverts or articles on the 1680 they all mention different "Marks"

Could somebody with knowledge, please tell me in order from the earliest mark upwards, what the difference is between them all

I guess that a mark 1 would be metres first etc, but how does it go from?

Thank you in advance to those members who can help.

APOLOGISE, JUST SEEN THE STICKY ALL ABOUT THE RED SUB.
But if anybody would still care to add anything, that would be handy. For example, I guess that the selling price of a 1680 would be heavily dependent not only on it's condition, but also which mark it is?
