Poppycock I say!!

David, I assume you are responding in good humor, otherwise I must say you misinterpreted my post, which was--by the way--merely intended to give the OP a possible technical perspective he may or may not have considered: specifically, the choice between an integrated chronograph movement (Daytona) versus a modular ("piggyback") one (AP ROO chrono).

Far from saying the movement in the ROO was poor or lacking, I praised the AP 3120 base caliber--but it's simply fact that the 3120 was conceived by Audemars first as an engine driving 3 hands and a date. The Rolex 4130 in the Daytona and the FP 1185 in the AP ROC are both highly acclaimed chronograph calibers that are fully integrated and meant to power a chrono from the first imagining. Just simple technical facts, which may or may not be of interest to someone measuring these two fine watches as contenders for their collection.

Snotty "purist" that I apparently am (ok, guilty I guess ), I personally prefer a fully-integrated chronograph (and *sniff* one with a column wheel instead of slideway switching, while I'm at it) when prices go north of 10K but admit a modular one can work perfectly well too: ya spend's yer dinero and makes yer choices, yes? For me, that'd be a Daytona or AP ROC instead of a ROO chronograph. But someone else might not care about such technical blather, and find the ROO's style and swagger irresistible. And ya know, no one would be wrong.

Well, I suppose that's enough poppycock and rubbish from me. Time to go admire the 3120 in my 15300 RO, lest I be accused of excessive hatin' on Audemars Piguet. Heavens forbid!

PS: Ever wonder why PP--who many here would drop down on both knees and praise as "The Most Prestigious Watchmaker in the World", has never employed or manufactured anything other than a fully-integrated chronograph caliber controlled by a column wheel for their chronograph watches? (And VC....and the resurrected A. Lange & Sohne brand....and Richard Mille....and, *gasp* even lowly Rolex...) Damn purist snobs!!
