Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS event...
I was fortunate enough to attend AP's latest charity event benefiting Broadway Cares/EFA, which was hosted by the current cast of the hit musical Jersey Boys, and let me tell you, the evening was nothing short of a revelation.
Never mind that I got to see old friends like Al Armstrong (his "own best customer") as well as chat with newly-minted AP CEO, Francois Bennahmias, the music was the focus of the evening. News flash: these guys can sing, and what's more, they're all perfect gentlemen who remain humble on the face-of their considerable vocal gifts. (yes, the camera on my HTC EVO leaves much to be desired...) It must be said here that at no point in the evening was Francois more animated or genuinely excited then when he was speaking about the charity and his commitment to keeping this partnership going throughout his tenure. This man believes 100% in giving back to the community, and it shows. He made me proud to be an AP owner twice over, and I look forward to the day when I can add a third to the stable. I was also fortunate enough to sit with Yvette, the new boutique manager (who I implore those of you in the tri-state area to get know, since she's the real deal), as well as Will, who remains quite simply The Man. AP is in good hands in the Big Apple, that's for sure. Here's a parting photo with me, Rick Elice (the man responsible for writing Jersey Boys and a true mensch) and his husband (yes, that's Roger Rees!!!): (For you Mel Brooks fans, Roger played the Sheriff of Rottingham in "Men in Tights"; for you Cheers fans, he played the reluctant British focus of Rebecca Howe's affections, Robin Colcord; he's also been in Frida, The Prestige, and is a Tony winner for best actor) Thank you, AP! Regards, Adam PS - Believe it or not, but in spite of the impressive wrist-borne firepower present, my Diver/bracelet combo garnered the most comments. It seems as though a lot of folks never even thought about adding the extra steel to the beast. |
